Summer of the Seventeenth Doll is one of the pillars of Australian theatre. With its premiere in 1955 Australian playwriting came of age.
Every summer, Barney and Roo return from the Queensland cane fields to their Carlton house they share with Nancy and Olive to take part in their annual season of leisure. But this seventeenth summer will prove challenging for them all. Nancy’s gone and got married and Pearl’s taking her place.
A triumph at its 1955 Melbourne premiere, and highly successful West End season, this 2020 production of the Australian classic directed by award winning Denny Lawrence celebrates the 65th Anniversary of this iconic play.
